Measuring sugar content in plant juice

Soluble solids are usually reported in values of Brix. When the Brix values are obtained and used correctly, Brix values can help with sorting, havest planning and other aspects of crop production, including irrigation, fertility and post-harvest management.

Brix values can be measured easily and reliably in the field using a refractometer.

We sell two different refractometers. Analogue handheld and digitally handheld. They can be taken into the field and the sample can be made on site. The handheld versions use either the sun or a closed bulb as the light source and have a meter or digital display. Many modern refractometers automatically adjust their values according to the sample temperature.

Digital refractometer

Atago PAL-1 is a digital handheld refractometer. Use only two to three drops of the sample fluid on the prism. Press the start botton and the Brix percentage value is displayed in three seconds.

Calibration is simple. The prism is cleaned, add water and press the start button.

The easy-to-read LCD screen removes the possibility of interpretation errors.

Analog refractometer

Atago Master 50H is an analog handheld refractometer. Use only three drops of the samlpe fluid on the prism. The refractometer is turned towards the light. The result is read by looking into the refractometer.

The prism is made of corrosion resistant hardened glass. Therefore, the refractometer has a long life.
